Green roofs and living walls provide many benefits to the built environment. As well as providing an aesthetically pleasing feature together with the wildlife they support and the environmental merits, they also provide many practical benefits. They contribute to reducing the effects of storm water flow by providing an attenuation facility which slows the flow of storm water into the already overloaded public drainage system. They provide excellent levels of insulation both with reference to heat loss and sound deadening. They are also proven to increase the life expectancy of the roof waterproofing membrane as they minimise exposure to sunlight and temperature changes.
Green roofs and living walls should not be restricted to larger commercial ventures but should also be thought of as great ideas in the domestic environment whether as part of the living accommodation or indeed designed as a feature of the garage, summerhouse or other outbuilding.
We very much look forward to discussing your project.
